Internship
Each year Pietro 17 hosts a small number of university students for a hands-on educational internship. Interns live at the estate farmhouse and spend their mornings working alongside our team in the vineyard, the cellar and at events, learning the basics of viticulture, winemaking and wine hospitality along the way.

Frequently asked questions
Who can apply for the internship?
The program is open to university students who are at least 18 years old and have completed their freshman year. Applicants must be able to live independently, cover their own personal expenses, and travel to Italy on a tourist visa.
Is the internship paid?
No, the internship itself is unpaid, though housing at the estate farmhouse — including utilities and WiFi — is provided at no cost. When extra help is needed in the afternoons or evenings, that additional work is paid on an hourly basis.
How long does an internship last?
Anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on your availability and interests. Interns work 6 hours a day, Monday to Friday, typically in the mornings.
What kind of work will I do?
Hands-on work in the vineyard (pruning, tying, weeding, harvest), in the cellar (barrel checks, bottling, cleaning, harvest operations), and at events and tastings. Each internship is tailored to the season and to your own interests — students with an interest in photography or digital marketing are welcome to mention it when applying.
What will I learn during the internship?
You'll pick up the basics of viticulture and organic farming, the basics of winemaking, and the basics of running winery events. You'll also learn how to grow vegetables and tend a vegetable garden, and have ample opportunity to practice your Italian. Beyond that, there's plenty to discover about local culture, habits and the local economy — as much as your curiosity takes you.
Where will I live during the internship?
In the estate farmhouse, on a private first floor with three bedrooms, a shared bathroom, a fully furnished kitchen and a living/dining room. There's WiFi but no air conditioning or TV. The village of Staffolo, with its shops, restaurants and cafés, is about a kilometer away.
Who will I live with?
The program hosts a maximum of three interns at a time, so you may share the farmhouse with one or two others — or have it to yourself. Each intern has their own bedroom, while the bathroom, kitchen and living areas are shared.
What expenses should I plan for?
Housing is fully covered — no rent, utilities or WiFi fees, and linens and cleaning supplies are provided. You'll need to budget for your own groceries (roughly €100–200 a week) and any weekend activities.
When should I apply?
As soon as possible. Internships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so applying early gives you the best chance of securing your preferred period.
How do I apply, and is there a deposit?
Send an email to winethatcares@pietro17.com telling us about yourself, your studies, and why you're interested. Successful applicants are invited to a video interview, and if accepted, a 200 USD wire transfer confirms your place and doubles as a security deposit — it's returned in euros at the end of your internship.
How do I get to the estate?
Pietro 17 can arrange pickup from the Jesi, Falconara Marittima or Ancona train stations, or from Ancona (AOI) airport. Just confirm your arrival day and time with us in advance.
