Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
Please read these terms carefully before buying from us or booking a visit.
1. Who we are
These Terms & Conditions govern the use of www.pietro17.com and all orders and bookings made through it. The seller and service provider is Pietro 17 di Giuliani Laura, Contrada San Pietro 17, 60039 Staffolo (AN), Italy, VAT number 02870630429, phone +39 342 6475911, email winethatcares@pietro17.com. Registered in the Business Register (REA) of Ancona under no. AN - 268628. Certified email (PEC): laura.giuliani1978@pec.agritel.it. In these terms, “Pietro 17”, “we” and “us” refer to this business.
2. Scope and acceptance
These terms apply to every distance sale of wine and other products from our online shop, and to every booking of a visit, tasting or event made through this website. They are drawn up in accordance with Italian and European law, in particular the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005) and the E-commerce Decree (Legislative Decree 70/2003).
By placing an order or sending a booking request you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms. The terms in force on the date of your order apply to that order.
“Consumer” means a person who buys for purposes unrelated to their trade, business or profession. Where these terms give rights specifically to consumers, they do not apply to business customers.
These terms are written in English for your convenience. If a translation is provided and the two versions differ, the Italian version prevails. The contract can be concluded in English or Italian.
3. Products and prices
We describe our wines as accurately as we can, including vintage, grape variety, alcohol content and volume. Photographs are illustrative: labels, capsules or packaging may vary slightly, and a new vintage may replace the one shown when stock runs out. Our wines are natural products and may show a light natural sediment; this is not a defect.
All prices are in euro unless otherwise shown. For consumers in Italy and the European Union, prices include VAT at the applicable rate unless stated otherwise. Prices do not include shipping costs, duties or destination-country taxes, which are paid by the customer and shown before you confirm your order (see clause 6).
Products are offered while stocks last. If a product turns out to be unavailable after you ordered it, we will tell you promptly, and you may choose a replacement or a full refund. If a price is clearly wrong because of an obvious technical error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full.
4. Orders and payment
To order, you add products to your cart, enter your delivery and billing details, choose a payment method and confirm. Before confirming you can review and correct your order. Your order is an offer to buy; the contract is concluded when we send you an order confirmation by email.
Payment is made online at checkout through the secure payment methods offered there, such as credit and debit cards and digital wallets. Card details are processed by our payment provider and are never stored by us. Your payment is taken when the order is placed.
We may refuse or cancel an order, with a full refund, if a product is unavailable, if the delivery address is in a country we do not ship to, if the age requirement in clause 5 is not met, or if we reasonably suspect fraud or non-payment.
You will receive an invoice or receipt with your order. If you need an invoice made out to a company, please contact winethatcares@pietro17.com
5. Age requirement
Alcoholic drinks may only be sold to people aged 18 or over. By ordering, you declare that you are at least 18 years old and that you have reached the legal drinking age in the country of delivery, if that age is higher (for example, 21 in the United States). An adult signature is required on delivery where the carrier or local law so requires.
The carrier may ask for proof of age at delivery, and the parcel will not be handed over to a minor. If delivery fails because of this, the costs of re-delivery or return are charged to the customer. We reserve the right to cancel orders where we believe the buyer is under age.
6. Shipping and delivery
We ship to all the countries that are available in our checkout, including the United States. If your country is not offered at checkout, we cannot deliver there.
Delivery is made by carriers we select. Delivery times vary from 2–3 days to up to 6 weeks depending on the destination, and are estimates, not guarantees. Orders are shipped after payment is confirmed, and we will email you tracking details.
Shipping costs, duties and taxes. Shipping costs, and any excise duty, VAT and other taxes or charges that apply in the country of destination, are borne by the customer in addition to the price of the products. For orders within the European Union, wine sold at distance to private customers is taxed in the country of destination, and these amounts are calculated and added to your order total before you pay, so that no further payment is due on delivery. Amounts shown at checkout are final for the order.
Orders within the European Union. Delivery is made to the address you provide in the EU country shown at checkout. You must be able to receive wine at that address in accordance with local law.
Orders outside the European Union. The customer is the importer of record and is responsible for compliance with local import and alcohol laws, and for import duties, excise, VAT, customs fees and for complying with local import rules. Delays at customs are outside our control. If a parcel is refused, or cannot be delivered it will be returned to us and we may deduct the shipping and return costs from any refund.
Risk and damage. The goods travel at our risk until they are delivered to you. Please check the parcel on delivery. If it is visibly damaged, accept it with a written reservation on the carrier’s document, take photos and write to us within 8 days, so we can send a replacement or refund.
Please provide a complete and correct address and a phone number for the carrier. We are not responsible for failed deliveries caused by incorrect or incomplete details.
7. Right of withdrawal and returns
Consumers. If you are a consumer, you may withdraw from a purchase without giving a reason within 14 days from the day you (or a person you name) receive the goods. If the order has several products delivered separately, the period starts from the last delivery.
To withdraw, send us a clear statement by email to winethatcares@pietro17.com or by post to our address, with your name, order number and the products concerned. You may use the model withdrawal form in Annex I of Legislative Decree 206/2005, but this is not required.
You must send the goods back within 14 days of telling us you are withdrawing, unopened, undamaged and in their original packaging, at your own cost unless we agree otherwise. Please pack bottles carefully: you are responsible for any loss in value caused by handling that goes beyond what is needed to check the goods, and for breakage in return transit.
We will refund the price, and the standard delivery cost, within 14 days of receiving your notice of withdrawal. We may wait until the goods are back with us or you show proof that you have sent them. The refund is made with the same payment method you used.
When the right of withdrawal does not apply. In line with article 59 of the Consumer Code, there is no right of withdrawal for:
- goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised, for example bottles with a personalised label or engraving;
- wines whose price depends on market fluctuations beyond our control and whose delivery can only take place after 30 days from the order, such as pre-sales of a vintage not yet bottled;
- visits, tastings, events and other leisure services booked for a specific date or period (see clause 8);
- purchases made by business customers.
Faulty goods. Whatever the right of withdrawal, if a product you receive is defective or not as described, you have the legal guarantee of conformity under articles 128 and following of the Consumer Code. Please contact us promptly with photos and your order number. We will repair, replace or refund as the law provides. A wine that is corked or otherwise faulty is replaced or refunded on the same basis.
8. Visits, tastings and events
Visits, tastings and events are booked by request through the forms on this website, or by email or phone. A booking is confirmed only when we confirm it in writing, and prices and conditions are those stated in that confirmation. Where payment in advance is requested, the booking is guaranteed once payment has been received.
Changes and cancellation. You can change or cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before the visit. After that, or in case of no-show, we may charge the price of the visit. Because these are leisure services for a set date, the right of withdrawal does not apply (clause 7). If you arrive late, the experience may be shortened.
We may cancel or reschedule a visit because of weather, harvest or cellar operations, safety, illness or circumstances beyond our control. In that case you may choose another date or receive a full refund of what you have paid.
Responsible enjoyment. Tastings are for adults of legal drinking age. Minors are welcome in the company of an adult but are not served alcohol and remain under the adult’s supervision. Please do not drive after tasting: arrange a designated driver or a taxi, and use the spittoons provided. We may refuse service to anyone who has had too much.
The estate is a working farm with vineyards, cellar and machinery. Please follow our staff’s instructions and stay in the areas indicated. Dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on a leash at all times and their owners clean up after them.
Private events. Requests to host an event are answered with a personal quotation. For events hosted by clients, we may request a deposit to confirm the date. The deposit is non-refundable if the client cancels or changes the booking, and it is deducted from the final price. If we have to cancel the event, the deposit is refunded in full. Price, services and any further conditions are set out in a separate written agreement.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or wilful misconduct, for gross negligence, or for anything that cannot be limited under law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to this, and as far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (including carriers, customs authorities, strikes, extreme weather and force majeure), or for the refusal, seizure or destruction of goods by customs or other authorities, or the unlawful import of goods by customers where this is prohibited.
Excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to health. Wine should not be consumed by pregnant women, minors, or before driving or operating machinery. Wine should be stored in a cool, dark place, lying down if closed with a cork.
10. Governing law, complaints and disputes
These terms and any contract with us are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence.
If you are a consumer, any dispute may be brought before the court of your place of residence or domicile (in Italy, the territorially competent court under article 66-bis of the Consumer Code). For business customers, the exclusive jurisdiction is the Court of Ancona.
Before initiating any legal action it is hightly advisable to address the problem directly with us: please write to winethatcares@pietro17.com and we will answer within 14 days.
Consumers may also use out-of-court dispute resolution bodies (ADR) in their country. The European Online Dispute Resolution platform was closed on 20 July 2025 and is no longer available. We favour out-of-court solutions and are willing to take part in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures, such as mediation through a recognised ADR body, before any court action is started.
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes do not affect orders already placed.
