This is our manifesto, these are the values that guide our decision making. This is what we put into practice everyday to ensure that Pietro 17 continues to be a place where dreams come alive, vintage after vintage.
We care about the land.
The soil is where it all begins, nature is king. We follow regenerative agriculture practices to ensure we leave our piece of nature in a better condition than we found it. We are certified organic farming, don’t use synthetic chemicals, never irrigate, and let spontaneous vegetation grow between rows. We care about the land, because the land is what ends up in a bottle, in our bodies. We are all one, wellness begins here.
We care about connections.
Friends, family, employees, suppliers, clients, artists, students. We connect with them all, and they connect with each other. Wine is a driver for social interactions, and socializing keeps us healthy into old age, and improves our quality of life. We respect our elders, we help the youth, we value our employees, we are inspired by artists and we count on our suppliers. We cherish our family, and we love seeing our old friends and making new ones. Pietro 17 is a place where connections are made and maintained.
We care about rural traditions.
The Marche countryside taught us how to farm, and taught us the value of preservation. Old habits, old ways of working, there was always a reason why something was done the way it was. From vineyard management, to food preparation, to farmhouse organization we keep our eye on the past while looking towards the future.
We care about winemaking.
Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast leads to wines that represent our exact location. We accept slight differences between vintages. Each year is unique. Our wines are different, but they share our devotion to blending small containers of different materials into a final blend that is our best interpretation of the raw material we grow each year.
We care about the arts.
What would the world be without the applied and fine arts? We firmly believe the arts improve all aspects of human existence and interaction. So we strive to surround ourselves and our estate with as much influence as possible from the creative artists and designers who we meet, and do what we can to promote their work for others to enjoy.
We care about sharing.
Open a bottle of wine and friends will appear. We share a bottle with friends, we share our knowledge with visitors, with students, with anyone who’s curious. Lifelong learning starts with a desire to share, and a desire to listen. Communal tables are the essence of sharing. Share a meal, share your experiences, share your friends, we’re all in it together.
We care about slowing down.
Nothing here is built for speed. Not the vines, not the wine, not the visit. If you’re in a hurry, take a deep breath, and slow down.
